How to clean and maintain electric bicycles regularly

When you ride your electric bike on the road every day, it will inevitably be contaminated by sand and mud. Therefore, your bike needs regular cleaning and maintenance to maintain its beautiful appearance and excellent performance. This will also allow him to run in parallel with you for a longer time.

If you're riding on the road and your bike isn't dirty after the ride, you don't need to wash it thoroughly. If you can, you can simply wipe the chain clean and then lubricate.

But if your bike looks dirty or even has a layer of gravel dirt on it, it's a good idea to clean it up, otherwise the dirt may hide in places you can't imagine, such as bike bearings or shock absorbers. This will affect your riding experience. What's more, cleaning the electric bike in time can also extend his service life.

Cleaning steps

Step 1: Please wet the bike first

Please gently wet the vehicle with a small amount of water, without the assistance of a high-pressure water gun or a large current. Keep in mind that you only need to get wet, too much water can cause water to enter unnecessary parts of the vehicle and cause rust.

Step 2: Clean the drive system

The chain and gears are first sprayed and moistened with a degreaser. Then use a smaller stiff brush to scrub the various parts of the drive system. After brushing the part, rinse the brush in a bucket and continue brushing, repeating several times if necessary. After the transmission system is cleaned, it will glow like silver.

Step 3: Wash the wheels, tires and frame

Use a larger stiff-bristled brush, apply dish soap (or detergent), and brush the wheels and tires. If there are holes in the tire that leak air, the soapy water will foam, so please repair or replace the tire after cleaning.

Continue to use soapy water and a soft brush to clean dirt from the frame. If there is stubborn dirt on the frame, sweep it off with a soft brush.

Step 4: Rinse the whole vehicle with clean water

Rinse the foam on the vehicle with a hose. After cleaning, you may notice slight scratches or wear on the frame. If needed, moisten a rag with a little alcohol and gently wipe to remove lighter wear.

At last

After washing, dry your bike with a clean towel and air dry it in the shade. After drying, use chain lubricant to maintain the chain. While rotating the chain, slowly drip in the lubricating oil, then rotate several times to make it even. It is very important to wait for the lubricant to stop on the chain for 5-10 minutes, and then dry the excess oil on the chain with a towel.

Reminder

If the bike has leather (maybe a seat or handlebars), try not to get these places wet. You can wrap them so as not to spray those places wet.

After cleaning, use lubricating oil only on the chain. Do not use lubricating oil in other unnece
